Specialties: Strategic Planning, Brand & Marketing Strategy
Alex Castillo is a founding member of Star Insights serving as strategic advisor to CEOs and other senior leaders in the private, nonprofit and public sector.
His three decades of experience in global consumer products, entertainment, and government allow him to leverage his overall general management and business strategy expertise to help these leaders think through how to strengthen their organizations, identify growth opportunities, and solve their most pressing challenges.
After a successful career in the private sector, Alex pivoted professionally and moved to Los Angeles to pursue his passion for the performing and filmmaking arts. Alex has appeared in dozens of television and film productions, most notably co-starring in “Clemency”, the Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize-winning death row drama distributed worldwide by NEON. Up next, Alex will be seen recurring in Prime Video’s “Bosch : Legacy” Season 2 premiering later this year.
In 2015 Alex received the prestigious FUSE Corps Fellowship in Civic Innovation and for the next two years was embedded within the Los Angeles City government and served as senior advisor to the City Librarian & CEO of the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL). He led the development and oversaw the implementation of the New Americans Initiative, a reimagining of the library’s existing U.S. citizenship services. This award-winning immigrant integration program has established LAPL as a prominent destination for immigrants in Los Angeles and has been replicated widely across the country.
Alex strongly believes in supporting nonprofit organizations. He sits on the Board of Managers of Downtown Los Angeles YMCA and is a member of the Leadership Circle of the Library Foundation of Los Angeles. Alex has served as an Alum-in-Residence for FUSE Corps and as a pro-bono consultant for nonprofits through the Taproot Foundation.
Alex loves to mentor young leaders, watch fútbol, travel the world with his husband and go on 500-mile walks.
